Mike Thompson, MD, PhD, FASCO has extensive work experience in the field of oncology and research. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Clinical Partnerships at Tempus Labs, Inc., where they are involved in a real-world data-driven program to accelerate precision oncology research. Prior to this, they held the role of Hematologist/Oncologist at Advocate Aurora Health in their Hematology Virtual Clinic. Additionally, they have been a Clinical Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2019. Dr. Thompson is a member of various prestigious organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. Mike has also served as a Medical Advisor at Doximity and a Founding Medical Expert at HealthTap. Previously, they worked at Advocate Aurora Health as the Medical Director of Cancer Research and Co-director of the Oncology Precision Medicine Program at Aurora Health Care. Throughout their career, Dr. Thompson has been actively involved in research and has published numerous articles in the field of oncology.
Mike Thompson, MD, PhD, FASCO has an extensive education history. Mike completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology with Honors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1989 to 1993. Following this, they enrolled in the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, where they pursued an MD and PhD in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics. Mike successfully completed their MD and PhD program in 2001.
After earning their MD and PhD degrees, Mike Thompson continued their education at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine as an Internal Medicine resident from 2001 to 2004. Mike then went on to pursue a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the U.T. - M.D. Anderson Cancer Center from 2004 to 2007.
In addition to their education, Mike Thompson has also obtained a certification in Biomedical - Renewal from the CITI Program in July 2022.
