Shane Speirs, MD, MBA has diverse work experience in both healthcare and leadership roles. Currently, they work as a Partner at BIGH Capital, a position they have held since July 2023. Prior to this, they served as the President and Chief Medical Officer at HealthyU Clinics starting from June 2021. In January 2021, they were the President and Chief Executive Officer at Adageis. Additionally, Dr. Speirs worked at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatrics/Palliative Care from August 2021 onwards. Starting in September 2020 until June 2021, they participated in the Leadership Development Program and served on various committees such as the Graduate Medical Education Committee and the Housestaff Committee at Banner Health. From February 2019 to June 2020, Dr. Speirs held the position of Residency Program Operations Administrator at Abrazo Health. During this time, they also served as the Editor In Chief for the Family Medicine Quarterly Report, a newsletter aimed at promoting medical learning and quality improvement. Dr. Speirs also contributed to the development and implementation of the Physician Leadership Track in the Family Medicine Residency Program and actively worked as a Resident Physician. Prior to their healthcare career, they worked as a Tutor, providing science education at multiple levels. Dr. Speirs started their professional journey as a Research Associate at Exact Sciences from July 2010 to May 2011.
Shane Speirs, MD, MBA has an extensive education history. Shane obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010. In 2017, they completed the Advocacy Course in Medicine at the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Shane also participated in a Leadership Training Program at the Jewish Community Center from 2017 to 2018.
Dr. Speirs pursued further education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix, where they completed a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine from 2020 to 2021. Shane also obtained a Post Graduate Learning in Healthcare Leadership from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (year not specified). Moreover, they completed an Executive MBA program at the W. P. Carey School of Business - Arizona State University from 2019 to 2021.
In terms of certifications, Dr. Speirs holds a Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine, obtained in 2021. Shane is also certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (2020) and holds an Arizona Medical License (2020). Additionally, they have certifications in Advanced Life Support Obstetrics (ALSO), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS), all obtained in June 2017.
