Maria I. Torres-Martinez, MHSA, is an accomplished healthcare executive with extensive experience in operations management. Currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer at Heart of Florida Health Center since June 2018, Maria I. Torres-Martinez has also held the position of Interim Chief Executive Officer and has a strong background in healthcare administration. Prior to this role, Maria I. Torres-Martinez worked at Costa Salud Community Health Centers as Associate Director/Chief Operations Officer and held cytotechnology positions at ASEM and HRPA Inc. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, a Post-Bachelor Certificate in Cytotechnology, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus.

Heart of Florida Health Center, formerly known as Community Health Services, became a Federally- Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in March 2009 with the addition of dental and behavioral health services. For over 18 years, Munroe Regional Medical Center (MRMC) and Ocala Regional Medical Center (ORMC) generously provided the financial support that made healthcare available through the CHS clinic. In 2007, the Marion County Commissioners and the Florida Department of Health Marion County also began providing funding assistance to expand the range of services offered.
