Lokesh Pimpale has worked in various roles in the scientific field since 2009. In 2009, they completed a Student Internship in Physics at the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics. In 2010, they were a Researcher in Astrophysics at the same institution, where they worked on using a two-element interferometer to record solar temperatures and developed software for automated logging of temperatures. In 2012, they were a Summer Intern in Biology at the National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, and also a High Throughput Screening Technology Associate at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, where they developed in-vitro cell based and in-vivo Drosophila larval brain assays, used fluorescence microscopy and super resolution microscopy, and set up and carried out a high throughput image based screen. From 2015 to 2021, they were a Scientist / Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at the MPI-CBG - Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, where they worked on Torque generation by actomyosin cytoskeleton for chiral symmetry breaking in cell division, conducted confocal microscopy of embryogenesis of various model organisms, developed software pipelines for automated image analysis of microscopy datasets, initiated national and international collaborations resulting in 6 projects, and assisted in teaching and mentoring masters students. Currently, they are the Head of Assay Technologies and Senior Scientist at HeartBeat.bio AG.
Lokesh Pimpale's education history includes completing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biophysics from Technische Universität Dresden between 2015 and 2021, a BS MS Dual Degree in Biology, General from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune between 2008 and 2015, an HSc in Electronics from K J Somaiya College of Science & Commerce Vidyanagar Vidyavihar Mumbai 400 077 between 2006 and 2008, and an SSC from Holy Angels High School in 2006.
