Eric began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Iowa, where they analyzed lung motion during breathing and developed image analysis tools. In 2005, they moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they researched cancer detection and classification, developed real-time metabolic MRI imaging, and researched asthma progression using CT, helium MRI, and clinical breath test data. In 2011, Peterson became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bordeaux 2, where they researched brain aging and disease and developed a clinical high-resolution brain imaging toolkit. In 2012, they became a Researcher and then a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University, where they managed a clinical stroke imaging study, researched stroke using MRI and CT imaging techniques, and developed image and signal processing for improved image quality and reliable diagnoses.
