Stephanie grew up in Columbia, SC, and graduated from Irmo High School in 1989. Her college adventure began in Clemson where she dabbled in several different majors before deciding on Public Health. After graduating from Clemson, she attended USC and received a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology. During her graduate program, she interned in Cardiac Rehabilitation, and this experience sparked her interest in medicine. She spent two years working as an Exercise Physiologist in a local cardiology office but then moved to Charleston to begin her studies in MUSC's Physician Assistant Program. After graduating in 2001, she worked as a Physician Assistant in Nephrology for 13 years. Her primary role was caring for patients with End-Stage Renal Disease on dialysis in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
