Mary Renwick

Board Director at Heifer International

Mary Renwick is passionate about water and international development. She collaborates with governments, civil society, the private sector and researchers to find innovative solutions to address complex water-related poverty, sustainability, and resilience challenges. Mary has worked in over 20 countries in Africa and Asia, and in the U.S. with a number of Native American tribes.

Mary currently serves as Chief of Party for the USAID Water Communications and Knowledge Management Project. Previously, Mary led Winrock International’s Water Innovation Program, growing the program from its inception to an established portfolio with field-level programs in seven countries and more than 60 technical staff. Prior to Winrock, Mary was a Senior Fellow in water policy and economics and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota. She also served as a Fulbright Visiting Professor at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. Mary received a Ph.D. and M.S. in Applied Economics from Stanford University and has authored more than 25 professional books, peer-reviewed articles and papers.

Mary and her husband currently reside in Pennsylvania and have two adult children. Mary loves time with her family, daily hikes in nature with her trusty sidekick (a French bulldog named Emmy Lou), scuba diving, traveling and all things food related.
