Nick Mehmel

Senior Process Development Engineer, Prototypes at Heirloom

Nick Mehmel has worked in a variety of roles in the environmental and research fields since 2014. In 2021, they began working for Heirloom as a Process Development Engineer III, then as a Process Development Engineer II, and finally as a Research Engineer I. Nick also works for the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet as a Climate Scientist. In 2021, they began working for GRID3 as a Geospatial Data Analyst. From 2017 to 2021, they worked for Oregon State University as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant. In 2019, they worked for the United States Antarctic Program as a Palmer Station LTER Field Team Lead: Marine Bacteria. In 2016, they worked for the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory as a LDEO Research Assistant (REU). In 2015, they worked for TED Conferences as a Content Team Intern. In 2014, they worked for Gladstein, Neandross and Associates (GNA) as a Summer Intern.

Nick Mehmel obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Earth & Environmental Science from Columbia University between 2013 and 2017. Nick then went on to obtain a Graduate Certificate in Geography and Geospatial Science (GIS) from Oregon State University between 2018 and 2020. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Science - MS in Earth Science (Geochemistry & Climate) from Oregon State University between 2017 and 2020. Nick also attended Bronx High School of Science between 2009 and 2013. Furthermore, they obtained Cert Prep: LEED Green Associate from LinkedIn in December 2020 and Introduction to LEED Certification from LinkedIn in November 2020.
