Janne-Markus Rintala is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki, holding the title of Docent in Aquatic Sciences. Rintala has extensive experience in the Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS), serving as Senior Scientist and Science Officer of Operations since October 2017, and previously as Junior Officer. Additionally, Rintala has been an Officer of Operations at ICOS ERIC ho since December 2018. Rintala also contributes to the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM) as a Project Coordinator since July 2017.

The Helsinki Commission, or HELCOM, works to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental co-operation.
