Damianos Abakumkin

Damianos Abakumkin was born in Athens in 1967 and graduated from Athens College in 1985. He holds a Dipl. Engineering Architect from NTUA (1991), MArch (1992) and UDes Cert (1995) from the University of Pennsylvania. Scholarship of IKY, the Eugenides Foundation and UPenn for participation in study programs in France and Italy.

Partner in the Study Office "B.Abakumkin & Syn.EE" (1991-2012), and founding member of the Architectural Workshop "AKKM & Associates - Architecture & Urban Planning" (1992-2019). He has prepared a number of architectural studies for the construction of buildings etc. projects. His awards (individually or as a team member) include 1st Prize in the Pan-European Architecture Competition Europan (1993), nomination in the 2004 Architecture Awards of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture (EIA), 2010 Architecture Award of SADAS-PEA, Greek nomination in the EU Awards for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Awards (2013 and 2017).

He has been an elected member of the Delegation of SADAS-Panhellenic Association of Architects (2011-17) and a member of the Board of Directors. (2011-14), of the Delegation of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) (2010-19) and member of its Steering Committee (2014-15), as well as Curator of the Scientific Committee of Architectural Engineering. He is a member of the Hellenic Section of the International Union of Architects (UIA), Coordinator of the SADAS-PEA Standing Committee "Program Architecture in Schools" and representative of the country in the Working Group "Architecture & Children" of the UIA.

Member of the EEI Association since 2012 and member of the Board of Directors. of since 2017.
