Jeff Wachtel holds a BA in Urban Studies and Psychology from Stanford University, an MA in Urban Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and a JD from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. He is the first Executive Director of Knight-Hennessy Scholars at Stanford University. He served as a senior assistant to Stanford President John Hennessy from 2000 to 2016. In that role, he provided advisory services to President Hennessy and represented the Office of the President to individuals and organizations inside and outside the university. In 2017, he was awarded the Kenneth M. Cuthbertson Award, which recognizes outstanding service to Stanford University. He has maintained his relationship with the College of Athens.
