Nikolaos Tsavliris graduated from Athens College in 1966. He continued his studies in Britain (Master's Degree in Law - University of London / Post-Graduate Diploma in Shipping Law - University College, London / Diploma in Shipping - London Guildhall University). Professionally he followed the family business Tsavliris Maritime Group. He has been Principal Member of the "Baltic Exchange" London, Underwriting Member of "Lloyds of London" and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
His involvement with the public in the shipping field has been extensive over time: Chairman of the Board of Directors. – Union of Tug & Lifeboat Owners, President - Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Greek Branch, Board Member – International Salvage Union, Board Member – European Tugowners Association, Member of the Board of Directors, Arbitrator & Appraiser – Maritime Chamber of Greece, Member – International Law Association, etc.
He has represented Greece in many international conferences and in international organizations. He has written extensively on maritime accidents, shipwrecks, towing, lifting and marine pollution. In 2016 he was honored with the Capital Link Greek Shipping Award and in 2005 by the Hellenic Institute of Maritime Technology for his significant contribution to Greek shipping, as well as by the Piraeus Port Authority for his continuous contribution to the port of Piraeus.
His social activity is multifaceted: President - International Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Piraeus, Vice President & Honorary Member, Hellenic Association for the Protection of the Marine Environment, Treasurer - Friends Group (floating museum) "HELLAS LIBERTY", Member of the "Steering Committee" for the creation of the Center for Hellenic & Southeastern European Studies” (Constantinos Karamanlis Chair) at Tufts University, USA, etc.
Central to his social contribution is his long-term, multifaceted contribution to the activity of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, on the Board of Directors. of which he has been Treasurer (2005 - 2013), Vice President (2014 - 2017) and President (2017 - 2021). He has been a member of the College Team, which participates in the Authentic Athens Marathon, for a number of years and, in 2016, he was awarded the College's "Sports Lifetime Award".
