Matthias Hebrok has extensive work experience in the field of diabetes and organoid technology. Matthias currently holds the position of Director at the Institute for Diabetes and Organoid Technology (IDOT) at Helmholtz Munich, which they started in September 2022. Matthias is also a Professor and holds the Chair for Applied Stem Cell and Organoid Systems at the Technical University of Munich since the same year.
Matthias previously co-founded a company called Minutia in 2020. Prior to that, they worked at the University of California, San Francisco for over two decades. During their time there, they held various positions including Director of the Metabolic Research Unit (MRU), Professor, Director of the Diabetes Center, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor. Matthias'stenure at the University of California, San Francisco spanned from 1999 to 2022.
Matthias Hebrok obtained their Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from the Max-Planck Institute for Immunobiology in 1995. Matthias continued their education as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University from 1996 to 1999, specializing in Developmental Biology.
