Helping Hand
Allison Bouma is a Lead Speech Language Pathologist at Helping Hand since April 2017, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities. Allison has a comprehensive background in speech-language pathology, having previously worked at the Center for Disability Services, where evaluations for various speech and language disorders were conducted for children and young adults. As President of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association at Calvin College, Allison organized community initiatives linking cognitively impaired individuals with speech pathology students. Additional experience includes roles as a social skills tutor and internships at various institutions, supporting diverse populations through targeted therapy and evaluations. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Speech Language Pathology at Rocky Mountain University, Allison holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Psychology from Calvin University.

Helping Hand is a non-profit organization serving over 600 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in suburban Cook County and greater Chicagoland communities since 1955. We offer a wide range of person-centered programs and services that enhance the educational, therapeutic, residential, and employment opportunities for those we serve. Our programs and services include a school, progressive employment programs that promote inclusive workplaces, pediatric therapies (occupational and speech/language), high school transition services, Community Living (CILA), and specialized programs with high team member-to-client ratios for seniors with disabilities.
