Helping Hand
Ceana' Gates, M.S., CTRS, has extensive experience in therapeutic recreation and developmental training, currently serving as the Admissions Coordinator and Developmental Trainer-Recreational Therapist at Helping Hand Center since October 2014. In this role, Ceana' engages over 120 clients with developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders in daily activities, creates tailored programming, and facilitates community integration experiences. Additionally, Ceana' has worked as a Transition Specialist, coordinating with families and school districts to support high school special education students transitioning to adult services. Previous experience includes serving as a Summer Camp Counselor at Alsip Park District, where Ceana' planned and implemented adapted sports and recreation programs. Educational background includes a Master of Science in Child Development from Erikson Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from Western Illinois University.

Helping Hand is a non-profit organization serving over 600 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in suburban Cook County and greater Chicagoland communities since 1955. We offer a wide range of person-centered programs and services that enhance the educational, therapeutic, residential, and employment opportunities for those we serve. Our programs and services include a school, progressive employment programs that promote inclusive workplaces, pediatric therapies (occupational and speech/language), high school transition services, Community Living (CILA), and specialized programs with high team member-to-client ratios for seniors with disabilities.
