Gianluca Detommaso

Gianluca Detommaso currently serves as the Tech Lead of AI Assurance at Helsing since March 2024. Previously, Gianluca worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from November 2021 to March 2024, holding the positions of Senior Applied Scientist (L6) and Applied Scientist (L5), focusing on hallucination detection, confidence calibration in large language models, and uncertainty quantification in deep learning. Prior to AWS, Gianluca was an Applied Scientist (L5) at Amazon from July 2019 to November 2021, specializing in scalable inference techniques for probabilistic modeling and causal inference. Early career experiences include an Applied Science Internship at Amazon and a Data Science Internship at G-Research, where Gianluca developed skills in Bayesian inference and change-point detection for cybersecurity. Gianluca obtained a PhD and a Master of Research in Statistical Applied Mathematics from the University of Bath, completing the degrees in 2019 and 2016, respectively.
