Jani Merimaa

Jani Merimaa has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jani currently works as the Head of Unit / Customer Channels at HSL Helsingin seudun liikenne since 2022.

In 2019, Jani served as the Head of Content Production at Helsingin kaupunki – Helsingfors stad – City of Helsinki until 2021, and then took on the role of Program Manager for the renewal of the Hel.fi website until 2022.

From 2015 to 2019, they held the position of Managing Editor of Sports & Executive Producer at MTV Sport / Mediahub Helsinki Oy, where they worked on F1 programs and MTV's sports news program Tulosruutu.

During their time at MTV Oy in 2015, Jani worked as a Sports Producer.

In 2002, Jani founded and managed their own production company called Production Company Onnellinen Oskari Oy. Jani handled content creation, general management of the business, P&L reporting, sales, customer relationship management, and more.

Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Jani worked as a Sports journalist at MTV3 from 1999 to 2014. Jani covered major sporting events worldwide and created content for various platforms.

Furthermore, they were the Editor in Chief and founder of Arvostelut.net, a social media site for user-generated reviews, and worked as a Film reviewer at Kinopalatsi.fi.

In their earlier years, Jani served as the Managing Director of Hopeinen Kuu ay, specializing in web design, and worked as a Sales negotiator at Kesko.

Jani Merimaa has a diverse education history, starting with their Matriculation Examination from Tapiolan lukio in 1994. Jani then went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree at Aalto University School of Business from 1994 to 2014, with a major in Communication and a minor in Marketing. In 2010, Jani attended the Sport Institute of Finland in Vierumäki to study sports management. Jani later obtained a Specialist Qualification in Business Management from Hyria in 2013, focusing on Knowledge Leadership. Finally, in 2012, Jani pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Innovative Management from Aalto University Executive Education, completing it in 2013.
