Dustin Schafer began their work experience in 1999 as a Project Manager at CRB Consulting Engineers. Dustin then joined BNIM Architects in 2005 as an Energy Modeler for a brief period. In 2008, Dustin became the Chief Technical Officer at Henderson Engineers, where they played a key role in providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration engineering design services.

Dustin Schafer earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University, where they studied from 1994 to 1999. In addition to their degree, they also hold a Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the State of Missouri, which they obtained in October 2004. Furthermore, they have completed several online certifications through Coursera, including "Capstone: Retrieving, Processing, and Visualizing Data with Python," "Programming for Everybody (Getting started with Python)," "Python Data Structures," "Python for Everybody Specialization," "Using Python to access web data," "R Programming," "Python Basics: Interacting with the Internet," and "The Data Scientist's Toolbox." These certifications were obtained between January 2023 and April 2023.
