Michael Genord

President & CEO, Health Alliance Plan & EVP at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital

Michael Genord, M.D., MBA, became HAP’s president and CEO in 2020, bringing a wealth of executive leadership and medical experience to the position. He also serves as president and CEO of HAP Empowered Health Plan, Inc., a licensed HMO and a wholly owned subsidiary of HAP. In this role, Dr. Genord is responsible for improving and expanding the integrated care and coverage of Medicaid and dual eligible Medicare-Medicaid beneficiaries.

Having previously served as HAP’s senior vice president and chief medical officer, Dr. Genord led the development and implementation of HAP’s clinical and operational programs in partnership with the region’s health care providers. Prior to joining HAP, he was president and CEO of HealthPlus when that company merged with HAP in 2016. Before joining HealthPlus as its chief medical officer, he managed a private practice for 17 years and served in leadership roles at William Beaumont Hospital and United Physicians Group.

Dr. Genord is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He earned his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, a master’s degree in business administration from MSU’s Eli Broad Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
