Doreswamy Kenchegowda is a research and staff biologist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 2022 and holds a concurrent position as a staff scientist at the Uniformed Services University since January 2017. Prior to these roles, Doreswamy was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland School of Medicine from October 2011 to January 2017 and served as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine from September 2008 to April 2011. Doreswamy began a professional career as a scientist at Avesthagen from 2007 to 2008 and was a research fellow at CSIR India from 2000 to 2007. The Henry M Jackson Foundation was founded in 1983 to continue the unfinished work of the late Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson in the areas in which he played a key leadership role: international affairs education, human rights, environment and natural resources management, and public service. Through its grantmaking and strategic initiatives, the Foundation seeks to make a lasting impact and perpetuate the Jackson legacy for the benefit of future generations. In addition to grantmaking, the Foundation's strategic initiatives address critical and timely needs in the Foundation's four program areas. The goal of these strategic initiatives is to leverage additional resources for issues that are central to the Jackson legacy by: - Partnering with other organizations - Convening leaders in the field from nonprofit, foundation and government sectors - Providing opportunities for public dialogue - Organizing forums for in-depth analysis on critical and timely issues Participation in strategic initiatives is primarily conducted on an invitation-only basis; however, interested individuals may contact the Foundation's program officer to discuss potential partnership ideas that are consistent with Foundation interests and priorities.
