Sir Peter Gregson

Sir Peter Gregson serves as Chair at the Henry Royce Institute and holds trustee positions with the Lloyds Register Foundation and the Royal Anniversary Trust, with experience stretching back to December 2021. Previously, Sir Peter was Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Cranfield University from August 2013 to July 2021, leading the development of specialized research facilities, winning multiple research awards, and securing three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education. Sir Peter also served as President and Vice Chancellor of Queen's University from 2004 to 2013, where Sir Peter facilitated the university's accession to the Russell Group and achieved several Athena Swan Awards. Prior academic roles included Professor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Southampton from 1983 to 2004, as well as various non-executive positions and directorships. Sir Peter holds a PhD and Matthey Prize in Lightweight Aluminium Alloys and a BSc in Materials Science, both from Imperial College London.
