Senior Director, Head Preclinical Development at Heptares Therapeutics

Gareth Waldron has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Gareth is currently a Senior Director and the Head of Preclinical Development at Sosei Heptares since June 2021. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Development, Non-Clinical Safety at the same company from July 2018 to May 2021.

Before joining Sosei Heptares, Gareth worked as the Head of Non-Clinical Safety at MISSION Therapeutics from June 2016 to July 2018. Gareth also held the position of Non-Clinical Safety Lead at Neusentis from July 2011 to May 2016.

Subsequently, they enrolled in the Universities of Southampton and Bristol to pursue their passion for Pharmacology and completed their Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1994.

In 1995, Gareth continued their education as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Calgary in Canada, focusing on the field of Electrophysiology of smooth muscle. After three years, they moved to the prestigious University of Cambridge in 1998, where they held the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. At Cambridge, their emphasis shifted to the field of Electrophysiology and molecular biology.
