Matt Barnes

President of Heptares Therapeutics Ltd. and Head of UK R&D at Heptares Therapeutics

Matt Barnes has a wide range of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Matt started their career at Celltech Ltd. (now UCB) in 1998, where they served as a Group Leader/Senior Scientist in Molecular and Cellular Systems until 2003. Following this, they joined Takeda as the Director of Pharmacology, a position they held for 13 years. In 2016, Barnes moved to Sosei Heptares, where they currently serve as the President of Heptares Therapeutics Ltd. and Head of UK R&D.

Matt Barnes attended Newcastle University from 1991 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Matt continued their education at Newcastle University from 1994 to 1998 and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmacology.
