Nigel Swain

Nigel Swain has extensive work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry. Nigel is currently the Senior Director and Head of Medicinal Chemistry at Sosei Heptares, a position they have held since April 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Chemistry and Associate Director at the same company. From June 2016 to March 2018, they worked as a Principal Scientist at Sosei Heptares.

Before joining Sosei Heptares, Nigel Swain worked at Pfizer Ltd for a significant period of time. Nigel held several roles, including Senior Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist, Principal Scientist, and Senior Principal Scientist. In these positions, they played a key role in leading drug design and project strategies in the neuroscience and pain research unit. Nigel also had extensive experience in ion channel and GPCR drug discovery across multiple targets.

Prior to their PhD, they completed their MChem in Chemistry with Industrial Experience at the University of Southampton from 1995 to 1999. Nigel Swain has also obtained certifications such as Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) from the Royal Society of Chemistry in April 2016, and Chartered Chemist (CChem) from the same institution in February 2016.
