Robert Gillespie

Senior Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry at Heptares Therapeutics

Robert Gillespie has extensive work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry and organic chemistry. In 2012, they worked as a Researcher in Chemistry at the University of York. Robert then completed a two-month internship in medicinal chemistry at Vertex Pharmaceuticals in 2013, where they focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel small molecules.

In 2014, Robert interned at Roche for 12 months as part of a medicinal chemistry drug discovery team, contributing to the publication of a patent. From 2015 to 2019, they pursued a Ph.D. at ETH Zurich, conducting research in complex natural product synthesis.

After completing their Ph.D., they worked as a Scientific Writer at Georg Thieme Verlag KG from 2017 to 2019. In 2020, they joined The Institute of Cancer Research as a Postdoctoral Fellow, conducting interdisciplinary research to discover therapeutics for pediatric brain tumors. Robert also supervised students focused on small molecule synthesis.

Currently, Robert is a Senior Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at Sosei Heptares, starting in 2022.

Robert Gillespie completed their education history as follows:

- From 2015 to 2019, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Chemistry at ETH Zürich.

- Between 2011 and 2015, they attended the University of York, where they obtained a Master of Chemistry (MChem), with a year in Industry. Robert'sarea of focus was Chemistry.
