Sam Purdy

Sam Purdy is a seasoned aerospace engineer with extensive experience in operations and test engineering. Currently a Senior Operations and Test Engineer at Hermeus since September 2025, Sam previously worked at SpaceX from May 2018 to August 2025, where roles included Lead Recovery Engineer and Senior Launch Engineer. Sam was instrumental in leading multidisciplinary teams in recovery operations, developing automation systems, and optimizing launch pad fluid systems. Experience also includes mechanical engineering internships at Westinghouse Electric Company and WECTEC, and teaching assistant roles at Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia Southern University. Sam holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia Southern University.
