Richard Bumgarner pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with an Associates Degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Journalism from Inver Hills College, which they completed between 1988 and 1990. Richard then enrolled at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 1990 to 1993, where they obtained a BFA Degree in Advertising & Design, with an emphasis in Multimedia. In 1992, Richard temporarily studied Multimedia and Digital Design at Wanganui, New Zealand Polytechnic. Additionally, they obtained a certification in "AI For Everyone" from Coursera in November 2019.
