Nurul Rafi's work experience includes being a Jr. Chief Financial Officer at Herring Bank, where they were responsible for driving the budgeting process and presenting budgets to the board of directors. They also worked as an Assistant Professor of Finance at West Texas A&M University, teaching courses in finance and conducting empirical research. Prior to this, they were a Graduate Assistant at Louisiana State University, where they conducted research and taught finance courses. They also have experience as a Business Analyst at Lincoln Financial Group, a Student Investment Manager at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Junior Financial Analyst at Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Limited, and an Officer in Loan Operations at Standard Chartered Bank.
Nurul Rafi has a strong education background in the field of finance. From 2005 to 2009, they attended the University of Dhaka and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on finance. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed from 2011 to 2012. Their education journey continued at Louisiana State University, where Nurul Rafi earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Finance from 2013 to 2018.
In addition to their formal education, Nurul Rafi has also obtained a certification in machine learning with Python for finance professionals. This certification was awarded by edX in November 2022.
