Billy Pipp, CSFM CBLP

Billy Pipp, CSFM CBLP has extensive work experience in grounds and sports field management. Billy is currently the VP of Grounds and Sports Field Management at HES Facilities Management, a position they have held since September 2022. Prior to this role, Billy served as the Operations Manager at HES Facilities Management from September 2021 to September 2022.

Before joining HES Facilities Management, Billy worked at ABM Industries as the Director of Grounds from January 2020 to September 2021. Billy also held the role of Regional Grounds Manager at ABM Industries from January 2015 to January 2020, where they were responsible for supporting and assisting with grounds accounts across multiple regions, training grounds managers on safety policies and industry practices, and implementing a company standard for grounds inspections.

Billy's earlier experience includes roles at GCA Services Group as the Grounds Manager at Virginia State University from November 2013 to January 2015, where they supported the university as a project manager for landscape projects, oversaw a 300-acre urban campus, supported the athletic department in field renovations and maintenance, and implemented a snow removal plan. Billy also worked at Upper Iowa University as the Director of Grounds & Transportation Coordinator from June 2012 to October 2013, where they were responsible for overseeing 120 acres of property, assisting with campus maintenance and management, developing a landscape master plan, overseeing the fleet operation, and preparing for NCAA Division II athletic events.

Prior to these positions, Billy worked as an Assistant Groundskeeper at the University of Colorado Boulder from September 2010 to June 2012, where they were responsible for maintaining athletic fields and facilities. Billy also served as the Head Groundskeeper/Facility Director at the Hannibal Cavemen from June 2009 to August 2010, overseeing the operation and maintenance of the playing surface at Clemens Field and managing sod installation and repairs. Additionally, Billy worked as a Landscape Supervisor at Creative Surroundings Inc from March 2009 to June 2009, overseeing landscape projects and maintenance.

Billy's early career included roles at the University of Missouri as a Turf Maintenance Specialist from January 2009 to June 2009, where they assisted with landscaping and upkeep of grounds around the Mizzou Sports Complex, and as a Student Assistant from August 2004 to January 2009, where they performed general upkeep of athletic fields and assisted with NCAA Division I events. Billy also gained experience as an Intern at the Washington Nationals from May 2007 to August 2008, working closely with the Head Groundskeeper to maintain safe playing surfaces and assisting with outdoor landscaping. Prior to that, they interned at the Boston Red Sox from May 2006 to July 2006, where they helped maintain Fenway Park and assisted with field preparation for Major League baseball games and concerts.

Billy Pipp, CSFM CBLP, obtained a B.S degree in Plant Sciences and Turfgrass Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia in the period from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they pursued their high school education at Ft. Zumwalt North High School from 2000 to 2004, where they focused on General Studies. In terms of additional certifications, Billy obtained the Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM) designation from the STMA - Sports Turf Managers Association in February 2018. Billy also achieved the Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) certification in August 2018. Earlier, in July 2017, they became accredited by the Accredited Snow Contractors Association as a Certified (ASCA-C) professional. Furthermore, Billy became a Notary Public through the Commonwealth of Virginia in March 2023.
