Janet McCandlas

US History Teacher, Choral Conductor at Heschel Day School

Janet McCandlas is an experienced educator and musician currently serving as a US History teacher and choral conductor at Heschel Day School since July 2022. With a diverse background in music education, Janet provides consulting services for Musical Child, focusing on program planning and research into music as a tool for social healing within Waldorf Education. As a freelance musician and music teacher since 1986, Janet specializes in collaborative piano and private lessons in classical piano and voice. Previous roles include Music Director at Westside Waldorf School, where general music and choir were taught to Grades 1-8, and developing the choral program at Freie Waldorfschule Erlangen. Janet's educational credentials include an ongoing Doctor of Education at the University of Southern California, a Master of Education in Waldorf Education from Antioch University New England, and a Waldorf Teacher Certification in Music from Sunbridge College.
