Andrew Major has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Andrew worked at HESTA from 2009 to 2019, initially as the General Manager - Unlisted Assets, where they managed a team of investment specialists and oversaw investments in unlisted/private markets. Andrew later became the Chief Risk Officer in January 2020. Andrew also held positions at organizations such as Basketball Australia, the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees, and the Australian Investment Council, where they served as a Director and Chairperson, respectively. Additionally, they have been involved in various advisory committees and boards, including the UN PRI Infrastructure Advisory Committee and the Climate Bonds Standards Board. Prior to these roles, Andrew worked as an Associate Director at Macquarie Bank from 1997 to 2008.
Andrew Major attended Knox Grammar School from 1977 to 1988. Andrew then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a focus on Political Science at the University of Sydney from 1989 to 1992. Andrew also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Sydney, completing it in 1994. Andrew further pursued higher education and earned a Master's degree in Applied Finance from Macquarie University from 1998 to 2001.
