David Heller is an experienced educator with a focus on teaching humanities and social studies at the high school level. Currently serving as the History and English Teacher and History Department Chair at The Hewitt School since August 2020, David creates unique, inquiry-based curricula encompassing various historical and theoretical themes. Previous roles include Urban Core Teacher at CITYterm at The Masters School, where David engaged students in interdisciplinary projects related to New York City, and Teacher at Unity Preparatory Charter School of Brooklyn, where social studies classes were designed around global history and social justice topics. David's career also includes experience as Education Director at Youth Communication, where curriculum development and training were key responsibilities, and as Education and Learning Strategist for the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, supporting afterschool programs in literacy and STEM education. David holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bard College and a Master's in Philosophy & Social Policy from George Washington University, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts from Franklin & Marshall College.
