Martin Bastius

Martin Bastius has a strong background in legal and compliance roles. Martin is currently the Co-Founder & Chief Legal Officer at heyData, a compliance company specializing in data protection and whistleblowing. Prior to that, they worked at Zeitgold as the Head of Legal & Data Protection Officer, providing legal support and advice for internal operations and financing rounds. Martin also gained experience as an Associate at Raue, where they advised clients on intellectual property, data protection, IT law, competition law, and more. Martin started their legal career as a Junior Associate at Hengeler Mueller and gained internship experience at Carroll, Burdick & Mc Donough, the German Mission to the United Nations, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, and Racks Ltda.

Martin Bastius began their education at Bucerius Law School in 2008 and completed their studies in 2013, earning a state exam in Law. In 2010, they participated in an exchange semester abroad at Universidad de Los Andes. After a break in their education, they pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) degree at Tel Aviv University from 2018 to 2019. In terms of additional certifications, in April 2023, Martin obtained a certification in Data Protection for Employees from heyData.
