Ian Blair

Ian Blair started their work experience in 2013 with the Government of Alberta, where they worked as a Data Analyst. During this time, they led a team in mapping landfills across the province using ArcGIS software and historical air photos. Ian also wrote macros in Excel to automate processes and identify discrepancies in water well network data.

In 2018, Ian joined Magna IV Engineering as an Electrical EIT. Ian ensured the safe and accurate operation of high-voltage electrical systems and utilized C# to create VTSO add-ins to validate and optimize existing Excel reports.

In 2019, Ian started working for Corrpro Canada as an Electrical EIT. Here, they designed systems to mitigate safety and integrity issues related to electrical lines near pipelines. Ian also developed an Excel VSTO to automate data importing, saving engineering hours. Ian led quality assurance and coordinated field operations for the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.

Ian's work experience in the Canadian Armed Forces began in 2011, where they held the role of Bombardier. Ian completed leadership training and managed groups of soldiers. Their responsibilities also included teaching rifle handling, artillery training, and field craft. Ian operated highly technical equipment to find the bearing of fire for an Artillery Battery.

Currently, Ian is employed at Semble as a Database Developer since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the same company as a Junior Software Developer from December 2020 to May 2022.
