Justin Salters, APR, CSR-P has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. Justin is currently the Founder & President of hey salty, a public relations and marketing communications agency focused on building trust and driving performance. In this role, Justin collaborates with businesses, organizations, and public agencies to promote and enhance their brands, programs, and products.

Before founding hey salty in 2020, Justin worked as a Consultant at Russo McGarty & Associates from 2016 to 2020. Justin successfully managed multimillion-dollar statewide ballot measure campaigns in Montana and South Dakota, handling production schedules, client and compliance approvals, and managing in-state operative teams. Additionally, Justin coordinated early-phase fundraising efforts for Californians to Stop Higher Property Taxes and led coalition-building activities for Fight for Prop 13 in California's Central Valley.

From 2017 to 2019, Justin served as a Contributing Columnist (Freelance) at The Bakersfield Californian, where they shared their insights and opinions through their columns.

Justin gained valuable experience at Chevron, where they held various roles. As an Issues and Reputation Advisor from 2014 to 2016, they identified, planned, and executed stakeholder engagement activities to support California operations. Justin also facilitated engagement between Chevron and the communities it operated in, launching the company's first grassroots advertising campaign in the region. Furthermore, Justin coordinated public opinion research, developed locally relevant messages, and managed creative development and media planning. Earlier, as a Policy, Government, and Public Affairs Representative from 2011 to 2014, they focused on communication, community relations, and media engagement, and played a crucial role in their successful grassroots advertising campaign.

Justin's political experience includes working as a Congressional Intern with the Panetta Institute Congressional Intern Program in the office of Ken Calvert (CA-42) in 2011. As an intern, they gave numerous tours to visitors. Before that, they interned as a Policy, Government, and Public Affairs Intern at Chevron Corporation, where they assisted with communication projects.

In 2011, Justin was a Teaching Assistant at CSU Bakersfield, where they aided in grading papers, proctoring exams, and holding office hours for a section of American Government. Prior to that, they served as the Vice President of the Student Government Association at Bakersfield College. In this role from 2008 to 2009, Justin managed the day-to-day operations of the association, overseeing a student staff, handling budgets, and representing student interests on both campus- and district-wide committees.

Justin Salters, APR, CSR-P completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at California State University, Bakersfield from 2009 to 2011. Justin also obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Political Science from Bakersfield College from 2006 to 2009. In 2011, Justin participated in the Congressional Internship Program at the Panetta Institute of Public Policy.

In terms of additional certifications, Justin obtained the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in December 2015. Justin also obtained the Certified Sustainability (CSR-P) Practitioner certification from the CSE - Centre for Sustainability and Excellence in April 2013. Additionally, Justin obtained a Certificate in Corporate Citizenship Management from the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship in November 2012.

Justin further enhanced their skill set by completing various certifications from the HubSpot Academy. In July 2022, they obtained the HubSpot Marketing Software certification. In February 2023, they completed the HubSpot Solutions Partner and Selling Sales Services certifications. In March 2023, Justin obtained the Guided Client Onboarding certification from the HubSpot Academy.
