Jonathon Horton

Jonathon Horton, PE, currently serves as Project Coordinator - Controls at HF Sinclair, overseeing capital projects at the company's refinery since March 2024. Horton has held various leadership roles within the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Secretary and Vice Chair of the Great Salt Lake Section since January 2016. With extensive experience at APCO Inc. from February 2017 to March 2024, Horton progressed from Control Engineer to Project Group Lead, managing industrial automation projects. Previous roles at Rio Tinto involved process engineering for both the Kennecott Copper Refinery and Precious Metals Refinery, focusing on process optimization and controls improvement. Horton began professional endeavors with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University, where engagement as a Research Assistant in catalysis and internships further shaped expertise. Early experience includes service as a Volunteer Representative in Cambodia and work in water filtration.
