Bryant Thomas Karras MD FACMI is a distinguished medical professional with extensive experience in public health and medical informatics. Since 2000, Karras has served as a Clinical Affiliate Faculty Instructor at the University of Washington, focusing on health systems and population health. Additionally, Karras has held various positions at the Washington State Department of Health since 2008, including Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Chief Public Health Informatics Officer. Karras is also active at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of the Advisory Committee to the Director’s Data and Surveillance Workgroup and serves on the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. With over 20 years of service in Washington government, Karras has also contributed significantly to organizations like the International Society for Disease Surveillance and the Foundation for Health Care Quality. Karras completed a fellowship in Medical Informatics at Yale School of Medicine and holds an MD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
