Omid Owjimehr

Omid Owjimehr has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.

Starting in 2011, they worked at MTN Irancell as a Call Center Supervisor for a year before transitioning to Iran Argham in 2012, where they served as a Technical Support Engineer for nearly 8 years.

In 2019, Omid joined the University of Calgary as a Scientific Researcher. During their time there, they conducted various research projects focused on enhancing the sustainability of cities. Some of their notable achievements include conducting exploratory and predictive analysis using Machine Learning and Data Mining techniques, building image classifiers for remote sensing, and developing anomaly detectors using LSTM-RNN. Omid also gained practical knowledge and hands-on experience with various data science frameworks and tools such as Sikit-Learn, Keras, TensorFlow, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy. Additionally, they learned about deployment challenges and augmentation techniques, and acquired programming skills in Python and platforms such as PyCharm, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebooks, and Google Colab. Omid's research and analytical skills were further enhanced through collaboration with CREATE-IISC group, primarily funded by the NSERC-CREATE program, where they worked on projects related to road collisions in Calgary and the feasibility of implementing an autonomous shuttle in Banff.

Most recently, Omid joined Hifi in 2022 as a Systems and Machine Learning Engineer.

Omid Owjimehr earned an Associate's degree in Electronics from Shahid Bahonar Technical and Engineering College in 2003. Omid then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Applied Science and Technology, which they completed in 2008. Omid furthered their education by pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary from 2019 to 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Omid Owjimehr has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills. Omid received a certificate in Introduction to Machine Learning in Production from Coursera in January 2022. In February 2021, they obtained a certification in Anomaly Detection in Time Series Data with Keras using LSTM, also from Coursera. Omid holds a Hardware Service Engineer certification from GRG Banking Equipment (HK) Co. Limited, which they obtained in January 2017. Omid also received an Instrumentation Certificate from the eLearning Center of Iran TVTO in May 2011 and an ICDL certification from the same institution in July 2009.
