Samuel Peretsman

Director at HIFU Prostate Services

Dr. Samuel J. Peretsman has been a treating HIFU surgeon since February 2006. He treated or was involved with nearly 400 patients outside of the U.S. in Mexico, Bermuda and the Bahamas for over a decade prior to FDA approval in the US. He served as a proctor and for International HIFU (a subsidiary of SonaCare Medical) and now, HIFU Prostate Services. He has served on HIFU advisory boards, quality assurance committees, and has been invited to deliver HIFU lectures at meetings across the US. He also currently serves on the HIFU Registry Committee of the manufacturer, SonaCare Medical.

Dr. Peretsman graduated from Duke University and Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He relocated to Charlotte in 1995 after 5 years serving as the urologic oncologist for the US Air Force Medical Corps. Since moving to Charlotte, he has practiced at Urology Specialists of the Carolinas and has been instrumental in helping them develop early programs for prostate cancer service lines including cryoablation, brachytherapy, robotic prostatectomy and of course, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, or HIFU.

Dr. Peretsman is a member of the American Board of Urology, American Urological Association, the esteemed Society of Urologic Oncology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was Charlotte’s first elected member to the Society of Urologic Oncology. His peers elected him to city (Charlotte), state (North Carolina,) and national lists of “Best Doctors” for several years straight.
