Head Of Intelligence And Systems - Strategy, Intelligence And Innovation Group at High Performance Sport New Zealand

Trent Lawton has over 30 years of work experience in various roles related to intelligence, analytics, and strength and conditioning in the sports industry and government sector. Trent is currently the Head of Intelligence and Systems for the Strategy, Intelligence and Innovation Group at High Performance Sport New Zealand. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Intelligence Analyst and Intelligence Manager for Rowing New Zealand, where they developed intelligence programs and provided analytics to inform decision-making and athlete development. Trent also has experience at the Australian Institute of Sport, where they served as a Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach for national teams in various sports. Additionally, they worked at the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs as the Director of the Research and Analysis Section. Trent Lawton's extensive experience includes managing teams, designing training programs, and utilizing data analysis to support program management and policy development. Trent holds expertise in SAS data analysis, policy modeling, and expenditure analysis.

Trent Lawton obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Sports Studies from the University of Canberra between 1989 and 1991. Trent later pursued further education at the Auckland University of Technology, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Strength testing and training of elite rowers from 2009 to 2012. Additionally, Trent Lawton holds a certification as an ASCA Level 3, Master Coach from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA).
