Ciaran McCaffrey has held several roles throughout their work experience. In 2008, they worked as a Site Engineer at P T Mc Williams Ltd. From 2011 to 2016, they worked at Golder Associates as a Geotechnical Engineer. Following this, they served as an Executive Engineer at Wicklow County Council from 2016 to 2017. Since 2018, they have been the Head of Capital Programmes at the Higher Education Authority.

Ciaran McCaffrey pursued their education in the field of engineering. Starting in 2007, they attended Ulster University, where they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 2010. Following this, they furthered their studies at Newcastle University from 2010 to 2011, earning a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
