Dena Payne has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Dena began their career as a Machine Operator at Red Kap in 1981 and then served as an Aviation Machinist Mate (Jet Engine Mechanic) in the US Navy for four years. Following this, they worked as a Purchasing Agent at Queen Carpet, where they managed the bid process and purchasing of inventory items.
In 1995, Dena joined Crompton & Knowles (Yorkshire America) as an Executive Assistant, fulfilling administrative duties for the company. Subsequently, they worked as the MIS Director at Highland Rivers Health from 2001 to 2011, overseeing the Information Technology department and managing data. Dena then became the Director of Operations Management, where they focused on ensuring quality care for over 13,000 individuals served by the organization.
In their most recent role at Highland Rivers Health, Dena held the position of Director Intellectual/Developmental Disability, managing a $12M division and supervising services provided to over 400 individuals in 12 counties. Dena was responsible for division growth and profitability, strategic planning, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, they served as the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing various teams and ensuring the smooth functioning of operations at the organization.
Overall, Dena has exhibited a strong ability to manage and lead in a variety of positions, making their a valuable asset to any organization.
Dena Payne completed their education in a chronological order. Dena first attended Dalton State College from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained an Associate of Science degree in Computer Operations. Following this, they attended Covenant College from 2009 to 2011, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Organizational Management. In 2014 to 2015, Dena pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree at Belhaven University. Finally, from 2017 to 2018, they attended Liberty University, where they completed their education by obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Human Services Counseling.

We are a behavioral healthcare agency offering services for adults, youth, and families with mental health and addictive disease challenges as well as adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a public safety net provider, we serve individuals who have little to no financial resources, as well as veterans and persons with State and Federal benefits such as Medicaid and Medicare. For individuals who are uninsured, our services are provided on a sliding fee scale based on income. No one is denied services due to inability to pay, and we will work with you on a payment plan to best meet your needs and circumstances. We serve the communities of Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, and Whitfield counties. Highland Rivers Health values an individual’s choices and decisions made on their journey to recovery and/or personal advancement. We have many programs and services across our 13 counties and are continuously building our capacity to ensure an individual can be served either in his or her community or as close to home as possible.
