Stephen Elderkin is a co-founder of Rebuilding Nature, with extensive experience in environmental sustainability and policy analysis. As the Director of Environmental Sustainability at National Highways since November 2015, Stephen Elderkin leads the implementation of the organization’s Net Zero Plan. Previous roles include Project Director for a Tier 1 Government Major Project and Deputy Director roles at Defra and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, where leadership was provided to interdisciplinary analytical teams. With a strong background in economics, Stephen Elderkin has held various positions in the Department of Energy and Climate Change, focusing on carbon budgets and energy efficiency policies. Educational qualifications include an M2 degree in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from Toulouse School of Economics, and attendance at the Major Project Leadership Academy at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
