After graduating from King's College, University of London (LLM) in 1994, he worked as a lawyer on the European Commission. After working at DDB-Hoche (Brussels & Paris) as a lawyer in 1998, he became a manager at the French-based multinational manufacturing company Alstom in 1999. In 2004, he worked as a Senior Foreign Counsel at Anderson Mori & Tomotsune Law Offices (Tokyo). In 2009, he became Director of Legal Affairs at British American Tobacco Japan. In 2012, he co-founded FinTech startup Xgemina (next-generation interbank payment technology) and its subsidiary Tortuga Mobile (funding using mobile devices) in Hong Kong by raising $ 2.5 million from angel investors. In 2014, he was a board member and general manager of the Legal Department of Lazada, Alibaba Group's Southeast Asian e-commerce business. He also serves as Ant Financial's helloPay.
In 2018, he became an advisor to HiJoJo Partners.
