Pete Davies has been in the semiconductor industry since 1993. Pete started out as an IC Design Engineer at WML Ltd and then moved on to become a Senior Designer (R&D) at Microcosm Communications Ltd. In 2001, they were an RFIC Design Consultant at Wireless Systems International Ltd. From 2002 to 2006, they were a Senior RFIC Designer at Powerwave Inc., where they designed, implemented and evaluated full-custom mixed-signal and RF integrated circuits in CMOS and BiCMOS for mobile telecommunications basestations at 1.8 and 2.4GHz. During this same time period, they also worked as an RFIC Consultant at Phasor Solutions Ltd, where they designed and implemented low phase noise synthesiser components in BiCMOS, operating at 10.5-14.5 GHz. In 2006, they became a Senior IC Designer at Gennum Corporation and then a Principal IC Designer at MACOM in 2014. Pete currently holds the role of Technical Director at HILIGHT SEMICONDUCTOR LIMITED.
Pete Davies obtained their BEng (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Manchester Polytechnic between 1985 and 1989. Pete then went on to obtain their MBA from the University of Birmingham between 1992 and 1994, specializing in Finance, Strategic Management, Marketing, and Human Resources. In 1995 they started their PhD at Birmingham City University, which they completed in 2002, specializing in Evolutionary algorithms and Analog layout. In 1996, they obtained their Chartered Engineer certification from the UK Engineering Council. Finally, in 2012 they obtained their Senior Member certification from the IEEE.
