Mark Placido has extensive work experience in finance and accounting. Mark started their career as a Staff Accountant at Canyon Ranch in 1992 and held various roles within the company, including Senior Staff Accountant and Accounting Manager. In 2005, they transitioned to the Berlin Central School District, where they served as Treasurer until 2007. Mark then joined Hillcrest Educational Centers, where they worked as Controller and later became the Chief Financial Officer.
Mark Placido has a strong educational background, having pursued various degrees in different academic institutions. In 1980, they completed their Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from Berkshire Community College. Following this, in 1982, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Western New England University, specializing in American Government and Politics (United States). Later on, in 1992, they obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Accounting from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Finally, culminating their educational journey, they completed their Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree at Western New England University in 2015.

Hillcrest Educational Centers, Inc. (HEC) is a private nonprofit agency serving students from across the country. Hillcrest was started as an organization that provided residential treatment programs for students with complex psychiatric, behavioral and/or developmental disorders, including autism, and a variety of high risk behaviors. Today Hillcrest also offers a nonresidential day program, providing comprehensive educational and clinical behavior support services to children and adolescents with autism and/or social-emotional challenges. The programs and services at HEC are state licensed and certified, and the agency is accredited in behavioral health care by the Joint Commission.
