Richard P. Péwé Jr.

Rich Péwé was appointed Vice President for Administration and Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Hillsdale College in 1999. In 2009, he was promoted to the role of Chief Administrative Officer. During his tenure, he has played a key role in developing and executing institutional strategy as well as staff development and culture, and he has assisted the president with the smooth and economical operation of the College. He has overseen extensive renovation and expansion of Hillsdale’s campus, as well as the construction and development of Rockwell Lake Lodge and the John A. Halter Shooting Sports Education Center.

After serving the College for five years in the capacities of assistant varsity track and cross-country coach, admissions officer and assistant director of Admissions, Péwé worked for Robert Blackstock as assistant to the Provost, and was the Assistant Vice President for Administration. Péwé has also coordinated two successful accreditation reviews and was a key advisor with a third. Additionally, he was a member of the Hillsdale City Council from 2002 to 2009, where he worked to improve the relationship between the City of Hillsdale and Hillsdale College, and has served as president of the Hillsdale County United Way board. An active member of First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale, he has chaired the personnel committee and finance committee and has been a trustee and an elder. He currently serves as a board member for Key Opportunities, a nonprofit organization that provides employment, rehabilitation, and opportunities for handicapped or disadvantaged citizens.

Péwé received a bachelor of arts degree in history and secondary teaching certification from Hillsdale College and a master of arts in education leadership and personnel administration from Western Michigan University. He and his wife, Patricia White Péwé, ’89, have four children.
