Hinds Hospice Associate Medical Director at Hinds Hospice

Dr. Duc Chung has held various roles throughout their career. Duc is currently the Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education and Associate Professor of Medicine at California Health Sciences University (CHSU) since April 2023. Duc is also the Hinds Hospice Associate Medical Director, a position they have held since April 2016. Dr. Chung has been involved with the University of California, San Francisco for several years, serving as an Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine since July 2016. Duc also took on the role of Site Program Director for the VA/UCSF Fresno Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship from November 2017 to April 2023. In addition, Dr. Chung has worked with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, serving as the VISN21 - Sierra Pacific Hospice & Palliative Care Regional Lead and Chief of the Hospice & Palliative Section at the VA Central California Healthcare System from November 2017 to March 2023. Duc briefly served as the Interim Chief of Medicine from March 2022 to January 2023. Prior to their work at these organizations, Dr. Chung was the Outpatient Palliative Care Director at Kaiser Permanente from August 2016 to November 2017. Duc also gained valuable experience at UCLA Health, where they were the Chief Resident from July 2012 to June 2015, and at the University of California, San Francisco, where they were an Internal Medicine Resident from June 2011 to June 2012.

Duc Chung MD, MBA, FAAHPM has a diverse and extensive education history. In 2020 and 2021, they attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and completed the LEAD Certificate Program in Corporate Innovation. This program specialized in executive leadership management. During the same period, Duc also pursued an Executive Masters in Business Administration at the Quantic School of Business and Technology.

In 2015 and 2016, Duc completed a Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, based in Fresno, CA. This fellowship program focused on hospice and palliative medicine.

From 2012 to 2015, Duc participated in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation/West LA VA Mullti-Campus residency program at UCLA. This program provided comprehensive training in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

In 2007, Duc earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. During their medical studies in 2008, they also participated in the Medical Student Research Program at Harvard Medical School, focusing on endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism.

Duc's undergraduate education took place at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cell Biology.

Through these educational experiences, Duc Chung MD, MBA, FAAHPM has acquired a well-rounded skill set and expertise in several areas, including executive leadership, business administration, hospice and palliative medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and molecular and cell biology.
