C Chandru has extensive experience in the mining and metals industry, currently serving as the CEO of Smelters at Hindustan Zinc Limited since April 2015. C Chandru has held various leadership roles in the company, including Deputy COO and Unit Head of both the Hydro Smelters at Chanderiya and the Pantnagar Metal Plant. Responsibilities have included overseeing all commercial activities and service contracts for smelters and managing rate contracts for engineering spares during earlier positions. Prior to joining Hindustan Zinc Limited, C Chandru spent over a decade at HZL as Associate General Manager, focusing on unlocking value from the silver business and managing operations at the Pantnagar Metal Plant. C Chandru holds a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from PSG College of Technology, earned between 1999 and 2003.

Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) is an India-based company, which is engaged in the mining and smelting of zinc, lead and silver metal in India. The Company's segments are Mining and smelting of zinc, lead and silver, and Wind energy. The Company's operations include approximately five zinc-lead mines, over four zinc smelters, a lead smelter, a zinc-lead smelter, approximately seven sulfuric acid plants, a silver refinery plant and over six captive power plants in the state of Rajasthan. In addition, the Company also has a rock-phosphate mine in Maton near Udaipur in Rajasthan and zinc, lead, silver processing and refining facilities in the State of Uttarakhand.
