Susie Donnelly, PhD, currently serves as Project Lead for National Health & Social Care Standards at HIQA, where responsibilities include leading a team in the development and implementation of national standards in healthcare and social care. Previously, Susie worked as a Project Specialist in Research & Evaluation at the Centre for Effective Services, focusing on health and social care services across Ireland. Susie’s academic background includes a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher role at University College Dublin, leading research on chronic illness management and conducting ethnographic research in connected health. Additional experience includes teaching and research positions at various institutions, extensive involvement in audience research at RTÉ, and an educational background in Sociology and Journalism from University College Dublin and Griffith College Dublin. Susie is also pursuing qualifications in Project Management.

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is an independent statutory authority established to promote safety and quality in the provision of health and social care services for the benefit of the health and welfare of the public. Our mandate to date extends across a wide range of public, private and voluntary sector services. Reporting to the Minister for Health and engaging with relevant government Ministers and departments, HIQA has responsibility for the following: - Setting standards for health and social care services - Regulating social care services - Regulating health services - Monitoring services - Health technology assessment - Health information - National Care Experience Programme
